Pre-Christmas Festivities & NYC Weekend

This post is a little late but it must be done.  Last week we had a nice get together at our house with all the babies and mommies from Pearls music class at our house.  It was a nice, relaxing afternoon of good food, good people and babies.  How could it get any better.  After that party it was time to get ready for Munchkins class party.  For Munchkins class holiday party we had a milk and cookie theme.  Each child had the option of three homemade cookies, fruit (strawberries and green grapes), and chocolate milk.  I made melted snowmen cookies.  All the kids went home with a goodie bag and a gingerbread man stuffed with candy.  The hit of the party was the colored pen’s Munchkin gave everyone.  It blew their minds that one pen had many colors in it.  The kids had a great time.

For the weekend we decided to spend the weekend in NYC right near Times Square.  We were one block from Toy’s R’ Us and one from Bryant Park.  We started of in Bryant Park park with a wrap like sandwich and Belgium waffles.  If we did nothing else our trip was complete.  A great park food lunch.  We walked around the park and the kids went on the carousel.  It was Pearls first ride.

We had never been to the NYC Public Library but heard they had a good exhibit on childrens books.  It was really nice.

We tried to go to Times Square and Toys R’ Us in the evening but it was so packed it took us a half hour just to get through the entry way of Toys R’ Us.  So we went out for dinner and to bed early so we could go to the toy store first thing in the morning.  We got to Toys R’ Us before 6am.  They are open 24 hours a day now.  At this time they were still cleaning up the store from the previous evening, it must have been pretty trashed.  On our way back to the hotel we got breakfast and then got ready for the day.

We spent the rest of the morning up on 5th Ave. stopping at the Rockefeller Center tree and FAO Swartz.  Two toy stores in one morning what a lucky Munchkin.

We got home in the early afternoon Sunday just in time to see Santa on the fire truck going through our town.

On Monday I took both kids to my exercise class.  As a reward I let Munchkin and his new friend ride on the mall rides.  Munchkin was so happy to meet another boy his age.  We went and got Chipotle for lunch and spent the afternoon finishing wrapping presents and getting ready for the holiday.
